If you've ever had a shop "recharge" your A/C only to have warm air blasting out of the vents again three weeks later, you already know why a guarantee matters. A $129 recharge that lasts three weeks isn't a $129 recharge — it's a $129 rental. That's the entire reason this policy exists.

Why we wrote this policy in plain English

Guarantees in the auto world are usually buried in fine print designed to never pay out. We saw no reason to copy that. The mobile A/C work we do at Aventura Mobile Auto Care uses EPA-certified refrigerants, calibrated manifold gauges, and recovery equipment that meets Section 608/609 of the Clean Air Act. When we finish a Summer Refresh or Rescue & Deep Vacuum recharge, the system is sealed, the vent temperature is measured at the center dash vent after a five-minute idle cycle, and the result is recorded on your service ticket.

If that vent temperature falls back to "warm air" inside the guarantee window — meaning the recharge didn't hold — we come back to your location and either top off the system or hand you $20 back. That's the whole policy in one sentence. The rest of this article explains the mechanics.

EPA 608/609 certified technicians

Every A/C recharge we perform is handled by a technician with an active Section 608 (R-134a) and, where applicable, Section 609 (R-1234yf) certification. Refrigerant is recovered, not vented. Recovery equipment is calibrated annually. We keep the certificate numbers on file and can produce them on request.

What the Fair-Play Gauge Guarantee covers

The guarantee applies to the recharge labor and refrigerant delivered during the visit. Specifically:

  • Refrigerant that was lost from a working system due to a slow leak we could not pin down within the appointment window.
  • A defective service fitting or Schrader valve that weeps after installation.
  • A hose connection that loosens within the first 30 days (rare, but it happens on aged vehicles).
  • Top-off visits up to a value of $20 if vent temperature falls below the threshold defined in our service ticket.

It does not cover new leaks that appear after the appointment, electrical faults (a failed blower motor will blow warm air and look like an A/C problem but isn't), or compressor damage discovered after the system is recharged. We'll tell you if we suspect any of those before we leave — that's part of the diagnostic step that's bundled into Summer Refresh.

The four-step claim process

  1. Call us. Use the same number you booked with — it's on your service ticket and the email confirmation. We're open weekdays from 5 PM to 7 AM, and weekends we never close.
  2. Tell us the vent temperature. We need a number, not a feeling. Set the A/C to max cold, recirculate, fan speed 3 of 4, idle for five minutes, then hold a basic thermometer at the center dash vent. Anything above 55°F at the vent is a flag.
  3. We schedule a return visit. Same-day if we're already near your parking level; otherwise next-day during operating hours. There is no charge for the diagnostic on a return visit inside the Fair-Play window.
  4. We top off, repair, or pay you $20 back. If a top-off fixes it, we top off — no charge up to the $20 value. If a quick repair is needed (a loose fitting, a weeping Schrader), we handle it on the spot. If the system has lost refrigerant faster than the policy covers, we hand you $20 cash or apply $20 to the next service — your choice.

"The point of the policy isn't to make claims easy. The point is to make the work good enough that you never need to make one."

The vent temperature we test against

Every Summer Refresh and Rescue & Deep Vacuum recharge ends with a five-minute idle test. We aim for a center-dash vent reading between 38°F and 45°F on a North Miami-Dade ambient day (85–96°F outside). Anything inside that band means the evaporator is getting refrigerant and the blend door is doing its job. Anything above 55°F means the system is low, the compressor isn't engaging, or the blend door is stuck — and we diagnose before we leave.

If you re-test the vents at home and see a number above 55°F within 90 days, that's the trigger for a claim. We log the post-service vent temp on your ticket for exactly this reason.

"$20 back, no argument, no restocking fee, no expired-window fine print."

Summer Refresh & B terms

How this is different from a shop warranty

Brick-and-mortar shops will offer a 12-month or "lifetime" warranty, but the practical experience is usually this: you drive back to the shop, drop the car for a day, get a loaner you didn't ask for, and walk out with a system that may or may not be fixed. We're mobile. The guarantee is mobile too. You stay in your parking spot at Aventura Mall, in your driveway in Aventura, or on the shoulder of the William Lehman Causeway, and we come back to you.

The shorter Fair-Play window is intentional. A recharge that doesn't hold past 90 days almost always means a leak big enough to find with proper leak detection — and finding it is part of the diagnostic step we perform before any recharge. If the system fails inside 90 days, we want to know why, not just keep topping it off forever.

Where this policy applies

The Fair-Play Gauge Guarantee applies to every mobile A/C recharge we perform inside our standard service area: Aventura, Sunny Isles Beach, North Miami Beach, Hallandale Beach, Eastern Aventura, the Aventura Mall campus, and the surrounding residential pockets west of Biscayne Boulevard. We can extend the service area by request — call first to confirm coverage for locations outside the standard zone.

The guarantee follows the vehicle, not the driver. If you sell the car inside the Fair-Play window and the new owner has a concern, we'll still honor the visit on the original service ticket. We log every recharge with the license plate, VIN last eight, and mileage for exactly this reason.

What isn't covered (read this part too)

We try to be generous, but we can't cover things that aren't our work. The Fair-Play Gauge Guarantee and $20-back policy do not apply to:

  • Pre-existing compressor damage discovered after the recharge (we test for this before recharging, but a failing compressor can read normal on initial inspection).
  • Refrigerant loss caused by body damage, accident, or curb impact after the service.
  • Electrical faults unrelated to the A/C system — a blown fuse, a dead battery, or a failing blower motor resistor.
  • Vehicles with modified A/C systems (aftermarket refrigerants, illegal "boost" cans installed before our visit, removed components).
  • The Fair-Play Gauge Guarantee on Summer Refresh and Rescue & Deep Vacuum does not extend to the Fair-Play Gauge Guarantee (the Fair-Play Gauge Guarantee itself) — the Fair-Play Gauge Guarantee is its own product with its own terms.

If any of those situations come up, we'll diagnose and quote the repair separately. No surprise invoices.

Why $20 and not "free forever top-offs"

"Free top-offs forever" is a marketing line used by competitors who know most people won't come back often enough to use it. The math is simple: a single recharge visit costs us refrigerant, recovery, drive time, and labor. We can absorb a small top-off inside the guarantee window. We can't absorb unlimited visits — and a customer who needs unlimited visits has a leak we should be fixing, not papering over.

The $20-back figure is roughly the cost of the refrigerant alone, with no labor markup. If we can't fix the problem inside the guarantee window, we hand you back the cost of the product and you can take the vehicle to a shop for a deeper repair. That's the honest version.

What to do right now

If you're reading this because your A/C is warm right now, the fastest path is to book a recharge for Summer Refresh or Rescue & Deep Vacuum. The booking form has a "Which parking level?" field that tells us where to meet you at the Aventura Mall garage, at your office building on Biscayne Boulevard, or anywhere else with a level number.

If you're reading this because you got recharged somewhere else and the warm air came back, the second-fastest path is to read our A/C services page and see what a properly done recharge actually looks like. We use recovery equipment, calibrated gauges, and EPA-certified refrigerants — and we put a vent-temp number on the ticket so you have something to measure against next time.

Either way, the policy is the same: 90 days, $20 back, no argument.
